MECALAC COMPLETELY REDESIGNS ITS MBR71 SINGLE-DRUM COMPACTION ROLLER
In 2017, Mecalac acquired the Terex factory in Coventry, UK, a manufacturing facility for backhoe loaders, site dumpers and compaction rollers. With all of its expertise in design and practical innovation, this manufacturer is improving its products all the time. The MRB71 single-drum compaction roller is a good example of this, and it now incorporates a series of technical updates that improve its ease of use, safety and performance levels.
On the new machine, the belt drive has been replaced by a fully hydrostatic system that makes it more flexible and easier to use. As a result, its width has been reduced, enabling it to work much closer to walls. The capacity of the water tank has been increased to 27 litres and the engine has now been uprated to 7.3 kW. These product enhancements reduce the need for maintenance, they greatly improve ease of use for the operator and also boost the performance of the compaction roller.
When it creates or makes improvements to one of its products, Mecalac systematically seeks to optimise operator safety. On the MBR71, all of the controls have been relocated to the handle to improve the safety and ergonomics of using this unit. The new hydraulic hand brake is applied if pressure drops, making operation even safer.
Specifically designed for the compaction of granular and asphalt-based materials, the MBR71 is perfectly suited to tasks such as the maintenance of roads, footpaths, cycle tracks, play areas and, at a general level, to landscaping work. Its proven design delivers optimum balance, making it the most manoeuvrable in its category in confined spaces, which is why this compaction roller is such an indispensable tool on many building sites.
